Getting from Laramie to Lake Owen

The Half Marathon starts and ends at Lake Owen while the Marathon Ends at Lake Owen, where we have long-term parking, so marathoners who don’t have their own ride to get the starting line at the Pelton Creek Trailhead will need to take a shuttle from Lake Owen to the starting line. The map below shows the route from Albany to Lake Owen. Entering the destination on a GPS or cell phone could result in being directed to an old route that is no longer open.  Enter Albany from Laramie and the directions will be fine.  From there, you MUST go through the little community of Albany to get to Lake Owen.  The turn to Lake Owen is  2.2 miles past Albany Lodge.  Don’t miss the turn!!  We will put a Rail Trail banner before the turn and one after the turn.  From there, continue another 2.5 miles to a “T” intersection and turn north (left).  Another banner will be at this location.  Continue 3.4 miles to Lake Owen. Total distance from the Albany Lodge to the Lake Owen Trailhead is 8.1 miles. This includes a short wash-boarded section, but the route is a well-maintained gravel road.
