Volunteers

Race Day Volunteers are Needed!

What could be better than a day in the mountains, cheering on intrepid runners?  We are in need of volunteers to assist on race day.  Positions are described below.  To join in the fun, send an email to the volunteer coordinator at: [email protected]

Positions:

  • Parking – Volunteers will direct drivers on where to park. Note our parking is very limited so organized parking is a must.
  • Aid stations – We have five aid stations for the marathon and those are the same ones used for the half marathon.  Volunteers hand out water, energy drink and whatever assistance runners may requires.  A tally will be taken of bib numbers at the first three marathon stations so we know that all runners have made it along the course.
  • Crossing guards – Most critical will be those who are at the marathon crossing of Highway 230.  We are not allowed to stop traffic so the crossing guards will need to hold up the runners until it is safe to cross.   We also need guards at crossings for Forest Roads where motorists need to stop to allow runners to cross safely.
  • Finish line – Various duties are required from handing out finisher medals, removing racer timing chips, to just making sure runners are doing OK.
  • Finish line refreshments – Volunteers will make sure food and drink are resupplied, as needed, for the runners to celebrate their finish.
